We're on the lookout for a Communications Manager

The position is a management role, ideal for someone with at least 5 years of experience. This is an opportunity for an ambitious and driven individual to establish and lead their own communications team within an exciting, growing, independent agency. This role provides supervision and direction to the wider team, working in collaboration with the design and digital teams. You'll report to the Creative Director and work alongside them to develop and grow the company’s communications offering.

The Communications Manager oversees and develops brand and communications strategies for our clients. Responsibilities include establishing relationships as a trusted advisor with new and existing clients, winning retainer based business and the planning and delivery of their ongoing communications. The Communications Manager will create, implement and oversee communication plans, be it B2B or B2C, which effectively communicate and promote a business's brand and its products and/or services. The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.

As Communications Manager you'll perform a variety of tasks, from creating brand and communications strategies to the management and implementation of integrated campaigns, including email marketing, social media, content creation, PR, media buying, SEO, PPC activity, events and marketing collateral. You'll lead in creating tone of voice, writing style and copywriting for our clients. Assisting in the preparation of client presentations, training and workshops. While monitoring results and presenting reports to our clients on an ongoing basis.

Roles & Responsibilities

Client Liaison

  • You’ll be our client face, building and nurturing relationships as a trusted advisor
  • Provide clear and concise explanations of Precept’s approach and services to clients
  • Offer support and guidance and spot opportunities for clients
  • Set agenda’s and lead in client meetings and workshops
  • Display strong presentation and negotiation skills
  • Collate and present regular reports to retainer based clients


Brand Communications

  • Define brand and communications strategies for clients
  • Manage and implement integrated campaigns for clients
  • Ensure client communications activity is consistent, on brand and effective
  • Produce, manage and deliver communications plans for clients
  • Ensure all brand communications activity is priced and invoiced accordingly
  • Constantly measure, monitor clients brand performance and create reports
  • Be proactive in developing your knowledge of branding, design and digital
  • Be proactive in learning new marketing skills to meet client needs
  • Lead in developing clients brand strategy and verbal identity
  • Undertake copy writing and copy editing for clients
  • Assist with proof reading and spell checking for the wider team
  • Offer creative input and undertake concept development where possible
  • Create opportunities for clients in turn generating new business for Precept
  • Be active in promoting and raising the profile of Precept
  • Full objectives and directions from the Creative Director


New Business

  • Create and convert client proposals
  • Run client workshops
  • Undertake networking to create new business opportunities for Precept
  • Speak confidently at events to share Precept's knowledge


Precept Marketing

  • Create and implement a communications plan for Precept
  • Assist in managing Precept's social media accounts
  • Assist in creating Precept's copy and content

Personal Specification


  • Good knowledge and experience of digital media and content marketing
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Background in copywriting, editing and proof reading copy
  • Experience in verbal identity, including tone of voice and writing style
  • Experience of delivering communications that raise awareness and engagement
  • Commercial awareness
  • Ability to manage a small communications team
  • Ability to produce, manage and deliver communications strategy and plans
  • Excellent administration and organisation abilities
  • Competent IT skills with Email, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • A confident, resourceful and creative individual who enjoys a challenge



  • Educated to degree level
  • CIM Qualified / member
  • Previous experience in media buying
  • Previous experience in digital marketing (PPC / SEO)
  • Previous experience managing integrated projects with design and digital teams
  • Project management experience
  • Photography skills
